The
streets get blocked off, and everyone gets ready for a day-long celebration when
the Duck River Music and Arts Festival takes place. It actually is,
"The Fair On The Square" For
12 years now, the Chamber of Commerce has been able to expand this event to where it
boasts the participation of more than 100 vendors. Additionally, a variety of
bands (from bluegrass to county to gospel to rock and blues) play on center
stage long into the night.
The Chamber recently added temporary power sources to accommodate increased electrical demands. Growth continues as the festival now encompasses surrounding streets. In 2002, we added more entertainment, a larger carnival-type area, and pony rides. We anticipate greater competition in next year’s Chess Tournament with the help of the Middle Tennessee Regional Coordinator. This event is always on the Saturday after Labor Day (September 6, 2003) and is held in conjunction with the Hickman Civitan Club’s “Centerville in the Fall” Auto Show.
